Missions to Change Eternity

Missions as a Value @ Wright Baptist Church

Wright Baptist Church puts a priority on missions – both doing and supporting. Hearing well Jesus' words, we aim to be witnesses locally, regionally, and globally (Acts 1:8).

We also using different talents and personalities and skills and abilities do seek to take Jesus' message to the world and make disciples of all nations (Jesus - Matthew 28:19-20).

At Wright, you'll find we work with both Southern Baptist and independent agencies for caring for people, sharing the Gospel, and placing light where there is lostness today.

And in the effort to minister to people from a variety of backgrounds and circumstances, missions takes a variety of forms at Wright Baptist too.

Just as some highlights, our commitment to missions include an Acts 1:8 verse focus on our callings: so it is local,  it is regional, and includes going and sending to the ends of the earth.

Regionally (in Florida, in the Southeast, Caribbean, Kentucky):

We support the work of the Florida Baptist Convention and the nearly 5,000 missionaries of the North American Mission Board of the Southern Baptist Convention to reach and minister to people in our home state and throughout North America.

WBC has connections to ministry also in South Florida, through the Florida Baptists and the North American Mission Board namb.org .

Many members support mission work and education inside of Haiti as well, including in a partnership with Truth Evangelistic Ministries (TEM), based out of Florida and South Carolina.

As well, we annually assist the Florida Baptist Children's Homes through our Vacation Bible School and Mother's Day offerings. This enables at risk kids and orphans to be supported well.

WBC encourages members to consider supporting Mark and Melissa Hefner who are educational missionaries taking the Gospel to kids from around the globe at a regional school as well. For more info, contact our office on the Hefner's ministry and how to help and pray, or you may visit also https://mchs4u.com/get-involved/give/ .

WBC student and adult groups take mission trips to areas within our nation and nearby regions. It is a privilege to share God's love and to share the Good News of Christ. This can include while ministering to people's other needs as well, in service. We also actively support new church starts within our region and in North America and Puerto Rico.

Globally:

There are several international missions trips that are organized or partnerships of Wright Baptist Church. You may once becoming a member, look into and go on these trips to share about Jesus with others and to show His love. WBC is building key partnerships in nations for the Gospel of Jesus. Come join us in this great effort.

Also, we are a part of the SBC. There are more than 3500 global missionaries commissioned by the International Mission Board of the Southern Baptist Convention (SBC). As an SBC church, we support the taking of the gospel to more than 120 countries around the world.

By attending and giving you lend financial support of their work, through the Cooperative Program of the SBC, enables these men and women to serve without fear of financial stress.

Wright Baptist Church has members who are connected especially to the Dominican Republic, and Brazil. Also (Haiti in the past, and if things calm down there, again) for global missions, we believe Jesus' command to be faithful in it. If you are led to partner with us and to help go and obey Matthew 28:19-20 globally, we want you with us. Come join us and worship with us. The opportunities are live and exist to serve in these places. Let's be found faithful in our time.

There are also other special giving opportunities, such as, the Lottie Moon Christmas Offering, that go 100% to global IMB missions work and relief efforts. www.imb.org

Locally:

We have several local ministry partners, to serve in, or to be served if you are in need. Beyond these, we are also open to new local missions partnerships in the future.

Locally we and members volunteer at and/or give offerings to...

- "Truth Evangelistic Ministry" (TEM). TEM is both local and regional. TEM both takes the gospel into nearby lives, builds churches regionally overseas, and supports orphanages as well. There is also a home for widows in the country of Haiti. New work is being done in the DR, too. More info on our partner TEM can be found at www.truthem.org . TEM also provides locally basic necessities, life guidance, bathing facilities, and a place to rest and recoup. This ministers to a wide variety of needs and is also a resource connecting ministry for you or others.

- "Sharing & Caring Ministries" of Fort Walton Beach, which provides needed life necessities, food supplies, kids supplies, and prescription supplies to those going through a tough time. The love of Christ is shown. Sharing and Caring is a cooperative effort of several churches, organizations, and Christian individuals locally. Sharing and Caring info is found at: https://www.sharing-n-caring.org/fortwaltonbeachhome.html In addition, their phone number is: 850-244-0778. Their typical hours are 9am-Noon, Mon-Fri.

- "Opportunity Place." A short term and long term local housing shelter. This provides shelter in a time of need. They do not means test. Their website is: https://opifwb.org/ . Their goal is a personalized housing solution to show love, with a goal also of self-sufficiency too. They partner with other local partners to create a comprehensive care program for you or for others. So life advice, sharing, prayer, and guidance are involved too.

- "Good News Club." This is a way to show care, love, and teach the Bible and Gospel songs to elementary age kids in our nearby cities. This is an out of the box evangelistic type of ministry, which also functions like mentorship for young kids. https://www.cefonline.com/ministries/goodnewsclub/ They are a group local churches partner with, in order to help the next generation.

- "Awana Club." While not per se a needs ministry, Awana does provide an evangelism and missions platform for us, locally. See key volunteer leaders Rick and Sue, to be a part of Awana, where teachers and activity leaders help share about Jesus, teach the Bible, engage the community and families for the Lord. This fun, kid ministry runs in the Fall to Spring each year every Wednesday 6-7 pm. Volunteers are screened and background checked also, via Rick & Sue, or Pastor Dave.

- And other various local ministries. Some members also support certain local ministries or serve there at times, and while not partners per se, they are doing great work often. Examples include members who volunteer or help with local FWB Salvation Army events, so on. You can connect with these efforts to bless others for Jesus. And we have members who do, either fund or volunteer at these.

Join with us in any of the missions or new missions we do at WBC, as you connect and get to know us and we you, for furthering the knowledge and worship of Jesus Christ around the world. (Matthew 18:19-20)

Get Started with Missions?

When somebody mentions "missions," yes, we all have a preset idea of that culturally.

However, missions work takes a lot of forms. We believe Jesus valued missions and shared that value with us, Matthew 28:19-20. This is because the LORD wants all the earth to know about salvation and the love of Christ, Psalm 96:1-13.

Yes, at first, missions trips or praying for missions or giving, it may seem far out or odd for God. But in fact, sharing your testimony of all God has done for you in Christ, serving those in need, providing relief, or doing simple acts of kindness in disaster relief, and more, fit into missions work.

No matter your place in life, or spiritual maturity level, there's a way to value missions, that fits who God has made you to be. We invite you to join us, in making an impact in real lives, for the Lord.

Why do missions? Jesus taught Matthew 28:19-20 ~

Go, therefore, and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit, teaching them to follow all that I commanded you; and behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age.

And Jesus told the early Christians in Acts 1:8 ~

But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you; and you shall be My witnesses both in Jerusalem and in all Judea, and Samaria, and as far as the remotest part of the earth.
