Beliefs Quick Overview:

When it comes to beliefs, Wright Baptist Church is a Bible-based church. As such, we believe in the historic Christian beliefs. We are similar to a Bible church or non denominational church in many ways. But we are also joyfully for missions work around the country and globe, associated with the Southern Baptist Convention (it coordinates the equipping, raising up, sending of missionaries and disaster relief people-teams). That lets us support, fund, stay able to serve globally as a congregation for any disaster relief efforts in Jesus' name, and also to support of Christian seminaries-colleges-schools, and do good works of that type.

WBC has a wide array of believers in Jesus from lots of upbringings and backgrounds. You can fit in here! Some were raised Baptist, some not, some are born & raised local, some are not originally from here, but got here as fast as they could. Also, some are new believers, yet still some are long-time believers in Jesus. We come and worship as Christ's church, and it is wonderful.

We affirm key beliefs like: believing in salvation by faith alone (Ephesians 2, verses 8-9), the Bible alone is authoritative to save as truth (Romans chapter 10), that Jesus Christ alone is Savior (Acts 4:12; John 14:6, etc.). We believe the Bible is trustworthy and accurate. We believe any person must have faith in Jesus to be saved.

We as a church believe that the Word of God is powerful to save and to change lives (Romans 10; 2 Timothy 3; Proverbs 30). The Word of God accomplishes God's purposes (Isaiah chapter 55). Big picture, we also affirm the historic, biblical Christian Trinity. There are God the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. Each is fully God, personal, and eternally existent, etc. We believe in a Heaven and Hell as real places. We believe that God calls us to love Him and our neighbors. We're called to wise living (Matthew 5; Proverbs chapters 1-31). We believe that Christians should seek peace with others as far it depends on them. We believe that Jesus will return again for His church. We believe a person seeks to be baptized after trusting Jesus as Savior.

Local, Regional, International Missions Efforts:

We affirm our role in life seeking more and more to be a people who reconcile and offer the peace of the Gospel in the world. The Lord changes things in life, He really does, and we believe that is our goal and attitude.

The Lord is at work today in calling people to faith. We also are supporters of local, regional, and international missions. We are also partners with the International Mission Board (imb.org) and the North American Mission Board for relief and missions work, as well as other local and international mission groups.

Since the Lord saved us we should seek to share that love and knowledge with others for God's glory. This is why we value missions work, supporting or going. WBC gives out of all the offerings money back to missions work. So if someone gives a dollar to the church, a portion of that goes back to mission efforts as well.

Outline of Beliefs:

We have a link to our longer list of Christian beliefs summary just here below.

These are the Southern Baptist Convention's (47,500 or so churches voluntarily associating) general beliefs, the "Baptist Faith & Message 2000." It is a simple, but useful statement or summary of core Christian beliefs.

While no statement is perfect as a summary, we believe the Baptist Faith & Message 2000 is a broad, Bible-based, conservative, and useful statement of faith. It is written to be useful on the main, core doctrines of first importance (salvation, Trinity, etc.). The BF&M 2000 was written to allow room for disagreement on third order of importance doctrines (examples on the exact details of the end times: like pre-tribulation rapture, mid-trip, post-trib, all could still easily affirm it.). On the most important doctrines, like the Trinity as an example, it offers unity. On lesser or hard to understand doctrines, maybe with just one verse on it, it offers charity.

So it serves as a general, basic summary for our congregation which allows us to come together on the core doctrines and to have flexibility on non-essentials.
